1. Venue
The Summit will take place in Santa Marta, Colombia. For the program, we will be organizing the activities in two main locations:

2. Hotel information
The official hotel of the Summit is Hotel Estelar. We have negotiated special rates for all participants of the summit. Hotel Estelar hotel is a 4-star hotel located next to the beautiful beach just 10 min away from the city center of Santa Marta. It offers free WiFi for all guest and is provided with an outdoor swimming pool and sun loungers on the beach. All rooms have satellite TV and a work desk. The private bathrooms are equipped with a hairdryer and free bathroom amenities.
3. Hotel bookings

4. Currency
The national currency in Colombia is the Colombian peso (COP). There is a variable rate 1EUR = -/+ 3683 COP. Local currency can be easily found through ATM or exchange offices.
5. About Santa Marta
Santa Marta, officially the Tourist, Cultural and Historical District of Santa Marta, is the capital of the Department of Magdalena and in addition the third most important urban center of the Caribbean region. Santa Marta was founded on 29th of July 1525 by the Spanish conqueror Rodrigo de Bastidas. It is known for the oldest existing city in Colombia and the second oldest in South America.
Santa Marta is located on the bay and is one of the best known tourist destinations of the Colombian Caribbean. Its location between the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, which has the highest peaks in the country and the Caribbean sea, makes it attractive to visit the variety of fauna and flora in this area. In addition, the city offers very interesting cultural and historical places.
The department of Magdalena is one of Colombia’s 32 departments. The department got its name from the river in Magdalena. The average temperature in Santa Marta is 27°C , predominating a dry environment due to the breezes coming from the Sierra Nevada. The rainy months in the city are June, July, September and October, and the driest months are from December until April.

6. Visa Information

7. Health and vaccination
For the department of Magdalena, which includes Santa Marta you are obliged to be vaccinated against yellow fever at least 10 days before your departure.
8. How to get to Santa Marta
Santa Marta has an international airport (Simón Bolívar International Airport SMR). Santa Marta is also located 1.5 hrs drive from Barranquilla, with Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport BAQ. Both airports are well connected to major cities of Colombian by plane (Bogota, Medellin, Cali) and also with other cities abroad. Main airlines operating in Colombia (Avianca, LATAM) serve these airports.
Santa Marta is a big city but feeling as small town and is easy to get around with public transportation, whether this is taxi, bus or walking.

Taxi: Taxis within the city cost around $6,000 COP (Approx. 2 Eur).

Santa Marta Busetas: Busetas are the small buses in Santa Marta, they are cheaper than taxis and they follow their specific routes in and out of the city.
